The top of the cast is glossy and smooth and the bottom of the piece is textured and rough from being cast into in a sand mould. The mould is broken up after glass is poured into it, so the mould is only used once, every piece is unique.
Colours are a mix of handblown thin coloured shards in turquoise, dark blue, aquamarine, pulled dark grey stringers and last a sprinkle of sparkly golden blue aventurine colour.
Inspiration: This design came about after ice fishing in cold snowy Lapland in Sweden. I’m trying to create the icy textures, the colour of the frozen lake and sky reflecting back into the water.
Sits nicely on a window sill or low table.
