Sand cast solid glass Rock sculpture with smooth glossy front and a very rough tactile sides and back.
Texture is achieved from being cast into in a sand mould, the mould is broken up after glass is poured, so every piece is unique.
Signed by the artist.
Colours are a mix of handblown thin coloured shards in turquoise, dark blue, aquamarine, dark grey stringers and last some thin gold and copper leaf.
*This large piece is very thick so it requires 7 days in the kiln to slowly cool to prevent chock (cracking), we usually only make these pieces 3-4 times a year due to the long cooling time required.
Inspiration: My Father is a retired Geologist, so I grew up with pretty rocks and precious stones all around the house. I have attempted to recreate the rocks from memory, using glass shards and colours building up layers as a thick solid collage in glass. Each piece is unique and never look the same, so please feel free to ask for more images of the piece/pieces we have in stock.
